Music Ministry
Mission Statement For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; At the works of your hands I sing for joy. Psalm 92:4 Our purpose is to make disciples for Christ
through a music program that is inspired by Scripture and sustained by
the Holy Spirit. In order to support and strengthen faithful
worship of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we dedicate ourselves to
all areas of our church life so that through our music we might glorify
God, and effectively guide, encourage and direct our brothers and
sisters in Christ to an abiding faith in our eternal and loving God. |

A
Philosophy of
Children’s Music Ministry When Jesus asked for the little children to come to him, He meant it! Since the beginning of the church, children have had an active role in worship. Many of the great masterworks of Western art music were composed to be sung with and by children. At Bluffton United Methodist Church, we seek to teach our children how to lead in worship through diverse forms of music and liturgy. We believe an important part of this process involves helping the children to grow in their faith by singing the hymns, anthems, and songs of the Church as a way of deepening their understanding of and engagement with their Creator. It is vital that the children understand both the words they sing and the musical language used to communicate them. Therefore we will create an environment that allows for both spiritual and musical expression and education. We desire to enable the church’s children in such a way that their worship participation is an offering to God. Goals for Children’s Music Ministry Teach hymns, anthems, songs of the global Church (World Music). Educate about worship and participate in worship leadership. Teach and develop musical skills. Nurture spiritual growth through Christian formation. Instill an attitude of service, outreach, and commitment. Provide social activities for fellowship to create a sense of community. PRAISE
WORSHIP TEAM
Whether our worship services are traditional, contemporary, blended or any other style, the main objective in our worship services is not about style of worship but content. We are connected to each other in worship that is grounded in God's Holy Word and led by His Spirit. As we design and implement powerful worship experiences, may we be mindful that if the content of God's Word (Truth) and His Spirit are not present, then style becomes the ultimate goal and not the vehicle for presenting God's Word. Since
October 2010, the Praise Worship Team (PWT) has presented monthly
praise selections at both worship services.
