Bluffton UMC Parsonage

Our church has been working hard to address concerns regarding the parsonage. This page is intended to keep a record of what has been done aw we strive to implement a plan to provide adequate housing for our pastor.

Parsonage Committee Update – On Thursday, May 7, 2009 the Parsonage Committee met to review the status of the new parsonage commitment drive and to reassess our current progress.

<>To date, the drive has secured $23,600 in commitments or donations for the purchase of a new parsonage. Over the last several weeks, commitments have slowed dramatically. The Parsonage Committee has had conversations with many of you regarding this issue. The majority seem to indicate they would be more willing to contribute to the renovation of the existing parsonage than to the new parsonage.

This information was brought to the Church Council at the May 11^th special called meeting at which time they endorsed the following plan of action:

· The new parsonage campaign would be suspended.

· A parsonage renovation project should be pursued.

· Persons making commitments and donations to the new parsonage campaign would be given the option of applying their commitments or donations to the parsonage renovation project.

<>The details of the renovation project are presently being worked on. More information will be forthcoming in subsequent communications. Letters will be sent to persons having made commitments and donations to the new parsonage campaign giving them the option to apply their funds to the parsonage renovation project. <>

Those of you wishing to make donations to the parsonage renovation project are encouraged to do so. Please note on the “memo” line of your check or with your cash donation that these funds are for the “Parsonage Renovation Project”.
